WordPress is an online, open source website creation tool written in PHP. But in non-geek speak, it’s probably the easiest and most powerful blogging and website content management system (or CMS) in existence today.
Best of all it’s FREE. Most hosting companies such as GoDaddy, provide a simple one-button install. It’s a really effective website tool whereby the user can update, change and add pictures or content themselves. Because of the non-techy jargon, I’ve also found it the easiest website development tool for clients to understand when training them to manage the backend themselves.
Ultimatum is not just a WordPress theme or framework. It is a total WordPress suite. Create amazing websites and WordPress Themes without coding knowledge. It is my favorite theme when creating custom web site solutions with the ease of content management system (CMS).
Ultimatum contains a unique layout builder allowing users to drag and drop elements and native WordPress widgets on the screen. Unlike other frameworks, Ultimatum does not bind you to specific add-ons. Use ANY plugin or ANY widget in Ultimatum by dragging and dropping them in the desired position.
Build responsive web sites with just a few clicks or show visitors a different website for their mobile device to decrease bandwith.
Utlimatum’s CSS editors makes styling a breeze. Customize your site with specific page layouts, fonts, images and colors without writing code.
OH! This site was built with the Ultimatum Theme Framework.
Not to watch, but definitely to follow along or recreate his steps. Robert uses the Ultimatum Theme because its the most powerful framework on the market. In addition to building any website you can dream, you can literally recreate any other pre-packed Theme using Ultimatum + various plug-ins.
If you need an incredible deal on the pro version of Ultimatum click here, we can help.
P.S. Would you recreate your favorite chef’s recipe without your own pots and pans 😉
In laymen’s terms a WordPress Theme is the window dressing of your site. Or the way it looks; fonts, colors, page layout & image placement.
In geek-speak, a WordPress Theme is a collection of files that work together to produce a graphical interface with an underlying unifying design for a weblog. These files are called template files. A Theme modifies the way the site is displayed, without modifying the underlying software.
ElegantThemes.com, ThemeForest.net and Mojo-Themes.com have thousands of pre-built themes available for purchase. Simply buy, download and install in your WordPress Dashboard. From there you can edit content and images.
The core of WordPress is designed to be lean and lightweight, to maximize flexibility and minimize code bloat. Plugins offer custom functions and features which enable a user to tailor their site to their specific needs.
For example: if you’re building a site, offering compelling content and want to grow your subscriber list. Buying and installing a plug-in to capture email addresses is a great way to convert visitors. We love OptinMonster.
Learn WordPress Online has tutorials available to teach you how to integrate premium plug-ins on your site including:
1) WP Pizza Plug-in to build take out, restaurant, delivery websites
2) Easy Digital Downloads to sell digital products online
There are thousands of plug-ins available, if you can think it somebody has built it, but be careful some themes require you to use their plug-ins ;-( The Ultimatum Theme does not.
NO. Keep this in mind though, the more plug-in’s installed on your WordPress Site the heavier the page code. That in turn could effect page load time which Google frowns upon.
Our advice, use what you need, delete what you don’t want and have fun with them.
Responsive Web Design is an approach to web design aimed at creating sites to provide an optimal viewing experience—easy reading and navigation with a minimum of resizing, panning, and scrolling—across a wide range of devices (from desktop computer monitors to mobile phones).(Thanks Wikipedia).
In other words, it’s a website that looks great on a desktop, tablet or mobile device. Easier said that done. Incredibly easy if use a theme that is already responsive ready even easier if you build it from scratch yourself using Ultimatum’s “Responsive Tab”. You choose which elements to hide on tablet or mobile and which can shown on desktop.
Look around. Okay, wait until your done reading this. People are obsessed with their smartphones and tablets. It’s rare to NOT see someone with their face buried in their device. Smartphones have changed the landscape of web design in that more people than ever are using those little devices in their pockets for more more than phone calls. Now we chat, skype, research, write reviews, book appointments and purchase items.
It’s also easier to manage & keeps you ahead of the competition. It’s a MUST for any new site design.
